The Subaru Impreza Shows Up the Competition in Countryside
A chameleon that can be personalized to suit your individual needs and style, the Subaru Impreza is a compact car that can be ordered either as a sedan or hatchback, making it perfect for a variety of drivers. Like other popular Subaru models, the Impreza has standard all-wheel drive. But that's just one of the reasons why customers at The Autobarn Subaru of Countryside love it.
To help you understand all of the reasons why you should consider it for your next car, we've highlighted it next to two competing options for you here. Read on to learn more about what sets the Subaru Impreza apart from the similarly sized Mazda3 and the Kia Forte.
Subaru Impreza vs. Mazda3
Like the Subaru Impreza, the Mazda3 is a compact car that offers versatile styling and the option of either a four-door sedan or a four-door hatchback. But unlike the Impreza, the Mazda3 doesn't offer all-wheel drive as a standard feature. It does make it available as an option, but you'll have to look for it and request it specifically.

That isn't the only area where the Subaru Impreza exceeds the Mazda3, either. There are other key places where you'll find that the Subaru has more to offer as well. For example, regardless of which body style you prefer, you'll find that the ride inside the Impreza is more spacious and comfortable than the Mazda3. Our compact car has greater amounts of headroom, legroom, and shoulder room than the Mazda model, particularly for the driver and front seat passenger.

Another thing you might notice when you look closely at these two cars side by side is that the Subaru Impreza has more of the technology and connectivity features that you're looking for standard than the Mazda3. Every Impreza option, regardless of body style or trim level, gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, for example. But this feature is not standard for the Mazda and can only be obtained on optional packages or upper trims.
Subaru Impreza vs. Kia Forte
Drivers who were searching for a compact car that offered both sedan and hatchback styling a few years ago also had an option available in the Kia Forte. But no longer. While the Subaru Impreza continues to offer both popular body styles for drivers to choose from, the Kia Forte is strictly available as a sedan. The hatchback option for the Kia was discontinued after the 2018 model year.

Additionally, where the Subaru Impreza has the standard all-wheel drive that our customers love, the Kia Forte does not. In fact, unlike the Mazda3, the Kia Forte doesn't even have AWD available as an option. It is strictly a front-wheel drive car with no alternative options.

The Subaru Impreza is also more powerful and more comfortable than the Kia Forte. Standard power for the compact Kia sedan is 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, while the Subaru produces 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. When you need power and space, the Impreza comes through, as it also has greater amounts of headroom, legroom, and shoulder room than the Kia, particularly in the front seat.
