Engine Options

All the new Subaru Forester models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 182-horsepower and 176 pounds-feet of torque. The Subaru Outback lineup also uses the same standard engine on half of the available models, providing you with a strong, capable, and easy driving experience wherever you go around Broadview. The difference is the Subaru Outback lineup offers another stronger and sportier engine option. Half the Outback lineup uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 260-horsepower and 277 pounds-feet of torque, giving you a more commanding and engaging experience behind the wheel.

Towing

The new Outback lineup also offers more towing capability, with standard towing for 2,700 pounds and maximum towing for up to 3,500 pounds. The Subaru Forester lineup offers towing for up to 1,500 pounds, except for on the Forester Wilderness model which lets you tow up to 3,000 pounds.

Size

The Subaru Forester has more space for passengers than the Subaru Outback does, with 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, compared to 109 cubic feet of passenger volume in the Outback. However, the Outback provides you with more cargo space than the Forester does, with 32.6 cubic feet, compared to 28.9 cubic feet in the Forester.

Technology Features

Both the Subaru Forester and Subaru Outback models have a cutting-edge Subaru Starlink multimedia system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration that lets you connect and control your smartphone on a touchscreen display or using voice commands. The Forester lineup has either a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen or a larger 8-inch touchscreen. The Subaru Outback has a standard dual 7-inch touchscreen system on the Base model only, with all others using a larger 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen display.
